Couple recent (colorful) Granny´s Kountry Candles hauls

I am subscribed to the monthly wax sampler from GKC which means I am getting all her Scents of the Month shipped to me automatically. Typically there are 14 scents in the line and it costs US$10/month (you subscribe for 3 months) incl. shipping which is a steal for (14) 1.5 ounce tarts!
So here is my shipment of the March (!!) SOTM tarts that I received back in ...yes..March lol..and another order I placed a bit later. At that time the scent shots came packaged in those gorgeous colorful candy wrappers ...Wendy played around a lot with labels and wrapping materials for her scent shots and now they´ll only come in cello bags. I like the colorful foil better though =X
I couldn´t resist those huge cute candles either lol

The Bathing Garden haul

The Bathing Garden got so extremely popular it is hard to get ahold of anything these days. As soon as she lists new stock it´s wiped clean pretty much within a few hours.
I placed this order in March and just didn´t get around to posting about it. Most of the new blends are really yummy and her quality is never slacking no matter how busy she is.

Daily wax melts April 16th 2013

This was a day where I only melted Heavenleigh Apothecary stuff. Overall I really like her wax but as most vendors there are some hit and miss scents.

-Lavender Marshmallows in the bedroom (2 cubes, 24W hot plate). This was a light sweet lavender scent. It was a great choice for my bedroom and it lasted through most of the day.

-Energize in the first floor (2 cubes, 24W hot plate). This is a standard scents you can get from various vendors (I have this one from PPS as well). It´s a good cool fresh scent with a slight citrus note but also menthol or something that feels cold. Overall I enjoyed melting this and it lasted through most of the day.

-Blueberry Muffin in the kitchen (tea light). I am not a blueberry fan...it was about medium strong and lasted well but I just didn´t care for it.

-Cinna Sugar Donut was another one I didn´t care for as most cinnamon scents will just give me a headache. It was pretty strong and I just coulnd´t stand it too long. I mainly just wanted to get rid of this and the blueberry scent.

-Serendipity Marshmallow in the living room (24W hot plate). Awesome serendipity blend. The toasted marshmallow adds an extra sweet creamy note! Lasted pretty much a day long.

-Serendipity Italian Biscotti in the living room (24W hot plate). Another amazing serendipity blend. I love the slight crispy almond note the italian biscotti add to the serendipity. Another strong long-lasting scent!

Daily wax melts April 12th 2013

-TBG Peppermint Bubbles in the bedroom (24W hot plate, 2 cubes). This was a very light sweet minty scent. I wish the throw was stronger but it was really subtle.

-CFTKR Pina Colada in the first floor (24W hot plate). This is a good light-medium scent...a blend of pineapple and coconut however it has a certain note to it that I don´t like. Overall not a fave.

-HHS Granmas Zucchini in the kitchen (tea light). An awesome scent...a very creamy rich zucchini bread. I prefer it in blends but it´s great on its own nonetheless. It gave a good medium throw and lasted well through 5-6 hours.

-TBG Pistachio Cream Egg in the living room (2 cubes, tea light). This is the pistachio coconut fluff scent some vendors carry and it´s one of my favorite scents out there. However it is so strong (from any vendor) that it gives a slightly bitter taste (!!!) to the air. Super strong and long-lasting!

-JLCCW Serendipity Sugar Cookie Dough (2 pcs, 24W hot plate). Sweet crispy cookies and serendipity mingle ever so delightfully in this blend I came up with. It was awesome, strong and long-lasting. JLCCW is awesome but it is impossible to place any orders with her right now as she´s swamped until at least July =( Good that I still have a fair amount of her tarts here!

-Lil´Kitchen Candles Birthday Serendipity in the living room (24W hot plate). As always a fantastic blend with a strong throw and great lasting power. I am really sad Lil´Kitchen Candles closed for good but oh well =(

Haley´s Heavenly Scents haul

HHS has quickly become one of my top favorite vendors. Her tarts come in an amazing variety of scents and blends, you can pick cute shapes, TAT is very considerable and her prices are affordable. As of now you get free shipping with orders of $50 or more and also receive up to 4 free 6-packs of your choice depending on the order value.
The scent throw is great-amazing on the majority of her tarts and her granma blends (a very creamy zucchini bread) are the best and something I constantly seem to reach for.
Overall, highly recommended! Janet is doing her tarts now as full-time job so be sure to order and support her (and great tarts in return!). <3

I got couple of cute warmers from her recently, along with 3 sampler packs (granmas blends, pink blends, fresh scents) and 3 free 6-packs of my choice.
I just placed another order a few days ago and just won her sampler giveaway, yay! Can´t wait for my next order to come!

Small Tiffany Candles haul

I had really general bad luck with my previous tart purchases from Tiffany Candles as most (but not all) tarts had a very light to non-existent throw. That was just before she changed to her new paraffin wax blend though as she was not happy with her old wax either.
Anyways, I heard and watched praise reviews for her new scoopable whipped wax so I decided to pick up a few in my favorite scents from TC respectively with a new serendipity blend she came up with recently!

I am very happy with these jars of whipped wax, they´re really awesome, have a strong throw and go a pretty long way.
I definitely would recommend this product without any hesitation!

Daily wax melts April 8th 2013

-Ollie´s Soaps Eucalyptus Spearmint in the bedroom (2 chill pills, 24W hot plate). A good standard cologne-y bedroom scent. Had a good strong throw and good lasting power!

-Granny´s Kountry Candles Windowpane in the first floor (24W hot plate). I can´t remember this scent at all. I do believe it was very light and unremarkable

-The Bathing Garden Apple Hearts in the kitchen (tea light). I just love this scent, it´s awesome! Tart green apple with a super sweet caramel and marshmallow or something along those lines. I normally can´t do apple but I love this blend! Strong throw, awesome staying power!

-IHeartwax Strawberry Serendipity in the living room (tea light). Another amazing blend from IHeartWax. I am not a strawberry person for the most part but this scent was great, threw well and lasted through a whole 8-hour tealight.

-BSF Blueberry Zucchini Bread in the living room (24W hot plate). I love my BSF loaves. They are made of a harder wax but with a soap cutter these are a breeze to cut. I sliced of a nice sliver and the scent was fantastic. Did I mention I don´t usually dig blueberry scents too much either? Haha! This was great and strong and I am happy I got that whole loaf!

-Lil´Kitchen Candles Waffle Cone Serendipity in the living room (24W hot plate). This was a very sweet scent I really enjoyed. For the size of the cookie the throw could´ve been a bit better though.
LKC closed her shop for good due to health problems of her kids. I am really sorry that we can´t purchase her beautiful wax anymore but I still have a big stash to hold me over for a long time (especially those loaves!). I wish her all the best for her future endeavors!

Daily wax melts April 7th 2013

-Heavenleigh Apothecary Pink Lavender Serendipity in the bedroom (24W hot plate). This was a really nice scent. A mix of a sweet lavender and serendipity. Throw was medium and lasted well!

-La Dolce Vita Cotton Blossom in the first floor (4 cubes, 24W hot plate). This is a BBW dupe and it´s a very nice sweet perfumey cotton laundry scent. Throw was only light-medium though even with 4 cubes.

-BSF Creamy Coconut in the kitchen (tea light). I used 2 of these mini bundt cakes and I totally hated the scent. Of course it was strong, all scents I hate are (or seem at least) strong to my nose. It was just gross and confirmed my belief that most coconut scents (as stand-alones) are yuck!

-LSC Amaretto Buttercream Cookie in the living room (tea light). This was awesome! A sweet almond scent with a crunchy cookie bakery note. This had a solid medium-strong throw and lasted until the tea light died out (about 8 hours).

-Iheartwax Serendipity Marshmallow in the living room (24W hot plate, 2 tarts). I melted this again as this is such an awesome scent! Sweet marshmallow and rich serendipity in perfect harmony and with a strong throw. Fantastic!!

-CFTKR Sweet Lemon Zucchini & Ice Cream Scoop Bread in the living room (24W hot plate). I mixed a slice of ICSB and the lemon scent and it was an amazing sweet lemon bakery scent. I loved this and will blend this combo again! Throw was strong and it lasted really well!

Scoopable Wax Comparison

Whipped or scoopable soft wax seems to be all the rage now across the wax groups/boards/forums. I am not quite sure if they are something desirable or if they are more messy and work than just popping in a solid piece of wax.
What I like about scoopables is the ease of blending new scents with them and generally how the amount can be controlled according to the size of the warmer/size of room.

I got scoopable wax from various vendors so it´s about time to review them and see who does it best.

Update: Part 2 is here!!

I´ll review them from back to front, clockwise starting on the very left

-Pics, Petals & Scents loaf in Frosted Lemon Birthday Cake. This is actually not labelled as being scoopable or whipped wax but it´s a very soft creamy wax and the owner started selling this wax in tubs as scoopable but I think the formula is about the same.

Texture: Firm yet creamy wax. Sticks to the spoon and a pain to clean up IMO
Scoopability: This scoops pretty well with a metal spoon but a plastic spoon is not optimal here. The deeper you go down to the bottom the softer the wax is
Container: This only comes in the tin foil container which is a pain
Messiness: Very messy, the sprinkles and wax crumbs go everywhere, the bag this comes in is smeared with wax
Throw: The throw on this patricular scent is awesome and this is one of my top favorite scents from any vendor.
Value for Money: This is more than 1 lbs and cost me about US$10 so it´s definitely the best bang for the buck!
Repurchase? Yes, but I am glad we can get this now in a polypropylene container (16 oz I believe)

Overall rating: 3.5/5

-Front Porch Scoopable in Caramel Marshmallow:

Texture: Very firm for being a scoop able. Doesn´t really stick to the spoon, yay!
Scoopability: This wax is more of a scrape-able. The wax is pretty hard and comes off in flakes rather than in a slob of a a creamy texture wax. A plastic spoon does the trick as well but if you use a metal spoon with a bit of force you can break off pretty big chunks of the wax. I personally do like the texture.
Container: This only comes in the super heavy glass jar. I would totally prefer a polypropylene container!
Messiness: This is only messy the first few uses but as soon as I am a bit further down in the jar it´s pretty un-messy!
Throw: The throw on these scoopables is awesome, I love creating new blends as well as I acquired quite a bunch of FP scoopables by now!
Value for Money: I think the jar retailed for US$17.50 until yesterday. Today they are US$15.50 as the vendor decided to change the formula to a softer wax (yay!) and sell of the remaining stock of the hard version. This is for 16 oz and includes shipping so IMO this is a very good price for such a quality product!
Repurchase? Yes, most definitely! And I am very excited to see what her new formula will feel like!

Overall rating: 4/5

-Tiffany Candles Whipped Wax in Birthday Bash:

Texture: This is a soft yet firm wax if that makes sense? What I love about this wax is that it has a totally un-crumbly texture!
Scoopability: This wax scoops out perfectly. I need to use a bit of pressure but the wax comes out easily.
Container: The polypropylene container is the best of all the jars IMO.
Messiness: This wax produces pretty much no mess at all.
Throw: The throw on the whipped wax is amazing and I don´t really need a lot to get a good throw. In fact the whipped wax from Tiffany is way better than her regular tarts as I get barely any throw from those but a great one with a bit of the whipped wax!
Value for Money: The jar retails for about US$10 for 8oz. That is a pretty high price-tag
Repurchase? Yes, most definitely!

Overall rating: 4.5/5
-Heavenleigh Apothecary Little Dipper (shown in Sugar Milk Serendipity and Pink Serendipity).
Texture: To me this has the most unique texture. It´s a very soft wax with an almost dry (as in not oily or creamy) feel to it.
Scoopability: This wax scoops out effortlessly but it does get stuck to the spoon.
Container: It´s a wide-mouthed plastic pot with a very firmly adhering cover. I like this container a lot.
Messiness: This wax produces a few crumbles making it slightly messy (though not bad at all).
Throw: The throw on the whipped wax is pretty good depending on the scent. Some scents like serendipity lemon curd or serendipity funnel cake are really strong whereas e.g. Pink Serendipity is on the light-medium end of the spectrum.
Value for Money: The jar retails for about US$6.50 for 8oz. That is quite a good price. This is also available in the bigger pail style container for US$20 (24oz, up to 3 individual scents can be layered).
Repurchase? Yes, most definitely!
Extra: Heavenleigh Apothecary allows you to create your own custom scent out of up to 3 scents from her list. This is an AMAZING feature, all the Little Dippers I have are custom blends made for me!

Overall rating: 4.5/5

-Happy Hippy Scents Scoopable Layers in Hippy in High Heels/Hippy Butter (a fresh kind of scent).
Texture: To me this has a strange oily texture but it is nice and medium firm.
Scoopability: This wax scoops out with ease
Container: It´s a wide-mouthed plastic pot with a very firmly adhering cover. I like this container a lot.
Messiness: This wax produces a few crumbles making it slightly messy (though not too bad). What is a real PITA is cleaning out this wax from the wax dishes if I don´t pour it while it´s hot. Once it´s hard it´s next to impossible to get it out without reheating the wax. I tried the freezer method and it was the first wax with which I had no success.
Throw: The throw on the whipped wax is too light for my liking on pretty much all of my 6 scents.
Value for Money: The jar retails for about US$8 for 9.5-10oz.
Repurchase? No, I don´t think so!
Extra: You can choose up to 3 layers of different scents to customize your whipped wax.

Overall rating: 2.5/5
