Daily wax melts November 12th 2012

-Front Porch Winter in the Forks in the bedroom (24W hot plate). This was the free 4-pack I got with my first FP order back in April or so. They picked it for me and I really like it as it´s a fresh herbal pepperminty scent. Throw was great in my bedroom and lasting power impeccable as with the majority of FP.

-CFTKR Amish Wash Day in the first floor (24W hot plate). This was just a standard laundry detergent scent. Throw was strong as I expected and it lasted till the evening.

-Scentsationals Lemon Balsam (2 cubes) in the kitchen (tealight). On cold sniff this was an amazing fresh lemon scent however when melted it had a weird undertone I didn´t care for. This was about medium strong and stayed till I poured it out.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Orange Caramel Crumble in the living room (2 bundt cakes) in a 24W hot plate warmer. I melted 2 of these huge tarts and got a light throw out of these. As always I am totally underwhelmed with YOCC´s quality. Time to destash I think.

-TBG Pistachio Cardamon Pound Cake (2 cubes) in the living room (24W hot plate). This was a really good scent however the throw was a disappointment. Thus also no lasting power lol.

Daily wax melts November 8th 2012

-Kristin´s Kandles Vanilla Velvet in my bedroom (24W hot plate). This was an interesting scent. It smelled very light and creamy in the package but when it melted it was pretty strong. First I got a cinnamon vanilla note. A few hours later it was still strong but then I picked up a powdery vanilla scent. I really liked this and it was strong and long-lasting!

-Tiffany Candles Mango Papaya in the first floor (24W hot plate). I didn´t really get a lot of scent from this tart so I can´t say much about it!

-VDC Peach Sugared ZB (Zucchini Bread) in the kitchen (tealight). I got a light peachy bakery scent from this but it was really just faint and I could just catch a whiff of this here and there when I was standing close to the warmer.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard pink Sugar Marshmallows (3 tarts!!) in my living room (24W hot plate). Despite using an estimated 3-4 oz of wax I got absolutely nothing from these tarts. I am done with YOCC and will just use up a few scents that threw a little but I would not order again!

-LSC Pink Sugar Cookie in the living room (24W hot plate). By LSC standards this really performed badly. I got only a very soft scent out of this but after all I could smell something and that was yummy!

Daily wax melts October 25th 2012

-The Bathing Garden Waltz (2 cubes) in my bedroom (24W hot plate). This was a scent I created for Shannon´s contest back in July. It´s lavender layered over pink sugar vanilla milk. This was really strong and lasted till the next morning but I wasn´t so fond of the scent, I had imagined stronger vanilla milk notes and the lavender is a bit too pungent and artificial for my taste.

-Ariel´s Secret Garden Children´s Room (about 7-8 pcs) in the first floor (24W hot plate). This smelled nice, a baby shampoo kinda scent. This was pretty strong and had good staying power but I also used more than half of that baggie!

-Front Porch Fuzzy Navel in my kitchen (tealight). This was a really good fresh fuzzy peach scent. This smelled really authentic without any candy or bakery notes. Scent throw was good, staying power acceptable (FP doesn´t do too well in tealight as I figured out finally).

-FussAssMcGee Orange Goblin Cupcake in my living room (24W hot plate). I threw the whole big cupcake in my warmer as I was too lazy to cut and FussAssMcGee usually needs a bigger amount of wax to get a good throw. This cupcake was so cute! Gladly I have a 2nd one! This smelled really good, a mix of orange and something like pumpkin. It smelled very much like "fall" to me. Scent throw was about medium and it lasted all day long!

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Zucchini Bread Fluff (1 loaf) in my living room (24W hot plate). YOCC hasn´t worked for me too well but this was a good one! Although this was not smack in the face strong I got whiffs of it all day long, so I could really smell it till I poured it out at night. An awesome super sweet zucchini bread scent!

-OMG! Candles Pink Sugar Buttermint in my bedroom (24W hot plate). This was really lovely. A pink sugar peppermint blend but it was somehow fresher than some other pink peppermint scents I tried. Staying power was good, about 6 hrs maybe. I used one tart which was perfect for my bedroom but for my living room or 1st floor I´d use 2.

-CFTKR Nectarine Mint in my first floor (24W hot plate warmer). This was an awesome fruity scent with a fresh kick coming from the mint. This was really strong and it lasted really long (pretty much all day long!)

-The Bathing Garden random overpour sample in my kitchen (tealight warmer). I got no scent out of this which is so weird as normally almost all TBG performs nicely. 

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Sugar Cookie Zucchini Bread in my living room (24W hot plate). I used a whole loaf (I think 2-3 oz) and got a light-medium throw so I really have to say for me YOCC just has weak tarts as I had no luck with any except Pink Kaleidoscope (and even that one is still too light). I think I´ll try to melt up my stash using 2 pcs at a time. But I loved the scent, it was a sweet creamy zucchini bread blend.

-Nellie´s Acres Blueberry Cupcakes in my living room (24W hot plate). This was a pretty blueberry scent, one of the best ones I tried so far as often I am not a fan of blueberries. These cupcakes are so soft and mushy and they arrived already in a messy condition. I really enjoyed this one though and it was going strong most of the day long.

Had plenty to melt on Oct 12th:

-FussAssMcGee Night Cap in my new 24W hot plate warmer (to be shown in the next post) in the bedroom. This was a huge very pretty purple layered tart so I cut it into 2 halves. I melted one half during the day and added the other one at night. This was a really lovely kinda sweet lavender vanilla scent with stronger notes of vanilla. I really thoroughly enjoyed this scent. Even though it wasn´t the strongest it was pleasant and actually the intensity was perfect for my bedroom as I can´t stand anything overly strong there anyway.

-Front Porch Citrus Laundry in a 24W hot plate warmer in the first floor. This was an extremely strong citrus/laundry detergent blend. I didn´t like it as much as my Citrus H2O from CFTKR which is somehow fresher and not as pungent. If you like strong and intense laundry scents this would be great for you though (if you´d ever be able to score anything on FP´s website!)

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Pink Sugar Cookie in a tealight warmer in the kitchen. Like almost all YOCC tarts this really looks cute but packs no punch whatsoever. On the contrary, I could not smell anything off this tart. A real pity but I don´t think I´d order from that vendor again (well, except maybe for her awesome Pink Kaleidoscope blend!)

-Rosegirls Caramel Dipped Marshmallows in a 24W hot plate warmer in the living room. Smelled awesome cold but barely any scent throw. I am done with RG, as cute as they look nothing performed for me even decently. I think I will remove whatever I have left from my stash and will not revisit this vendor.

-Beaux Savons Frais Ghosts & Goblins (a skull and a crossbones tart) in the living room in a hot plate warmer. This was a very interesting and unique scent. To me it had a bread note and I could smell citrus. Lasting power and scent throw was great, I could smell it all day long. Will post my BSF haul soon!

Yesterday´s scents were:

-Pics, Petals & Scents Toasted Marshmallow Vanilla Bean Noel in my bedroom in a 24W hot plate warmer. This wasn´t a strong scent but I could smell it and it was really pretty and sweet, perfect for the bedroom. IMO Pics, Petals & Scents do best in the 24W hot plate after curing for at least 2 weeks!

-Scentsationals Bonsai Tree (2 cubes) in the first floor in the 20W hot plate warmer. Initially I really loved this as it´s a very green fresh scent however over time it triggered a headache. This was definitely strong and lasted all day long (it still smelled pretty strong when I poured it out at night.

-Ariel´s Secret Garden Twigs & Berries in the kitchen in a tealight warmer. For being just an 1 oz scent shot this was pretty strong and stayed all day (2 tealights long!). I have the same scent from CFTKR and FP and they are also strong so I suppose the fragrance oil is strong. It´s an interesting woodsy berry scent.

-Kristin´s Kandles Lemon Meringue Pie in my 20W hot plate in the living room. This didn´t really have much of a throw which was quite a disappointment. This is one of the first duds from Kristin´s I encounter though so not  a big problem for me.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Pink Kaleidoscope in my 24W hot plate in the living room. I love this scent so much, it´s uber-awesome lol. It´s a medley of all kinda sweet things with a more dominant creamy key lime pie note. It had a medium scent throw and good lasting power. I generally wish that YOCC´s scents were a bit stronger though!

Today I am really happy with my choices!

-La Dolce Vita in Bunny Burp (last 2 cubes) on my 20W hot plate in the first floor. A super awesome strong fresh herbal scent. I really love this! Dolce Vita really makes amazing tarts, my new order of 27 pcs just shipped and should reach me after tomorrow! Can´t wait!

-Birdland Paradise Coconut Citrus Sorbet in my tealight warmer in the kitchen. A good coconut and citrus scent with a nice medium throw. I am not such a great fan of coconut though so it´s not a scent I would necessarily purchase.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Orange Caramel Crumble in my living room in a 20W hot plate. A good orange bakery scent but not as strong as I´d like. Still like this though!

-The Bathing Garden Frosted Fruit Cake (2 cubes) in my 24W hot plate warmer in the living room. I LOVE this one! It´s so awesome! It´s a wicked strong fruity bakery scent with prominent citrus notes. I switched the warmer on 12 hrs ago and the scent is still super strong and awesome! TBG just can´t be reached by anyone else in my opinion!

Here is my scent list of 23/09:

-Tiffany Candles Pink Peppermint in my bedroom in a 25W lightbulb warmer. This is such an awesome blend of peppermint and pink sugar. A very nice relaxing and refreshing scent. Scent throw was good and lasting power ditto.

-Angel Made Scents Cherry Margarita jumbo tart in my 20W hot plate warmer in the first floor. This was a strong lime and cherry scent that threw well all day long. I got a bit tired of it by the evening though but all in all it was a really good scent.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Key Lime Pie in the kitchen in my tealight warmer. This was a really delicious scent with a medium throw and good longevity. So far except for maybe one scent YOCC didn´t have a great scent throw for me.

-The Bathing Garden Samba (my own creation), 1 cube in my 25W lightbulb warmer in the living room and 1 cube in my 24W hot plate warmer. This was awesome! A refreshing orange-chili blend with a hint of banana (not strong, I dislike banana tarts!). Scent throw was medium and lasting power average (4-5 hours).

Daily wax melts September 21st 2012

Here are my wax melts for September 21st:

-FussAssMcGee Vanilla Bean Noel (3 cubes) in my tealight warmer in the bedroom. This had a very light throw despite using 3 cubes. As I mentioned in another post FussAssMcGee needs some curing time as most tarts smelled very faint when I received them. After sitting for some weeks most of the scents turned out nicely though! VBN is a light scent by default and I would not repurchase this.

--A Breath of French Air Fresh Linen (the last 2 tarts) in my 20W warmer in the first floor. This was such an awesome sweet laundry scent as I reviewed before and it had a great throw and lasting power! This was different from other laundry scents as it had a pleasant sweet note to it. Loved it!

-Scentsationals Harvest Moon (1 cube) in my tealight warmer in the kitchen. A nice classic fall scent. Slightly spicy and with a tinge of a leaf scent. Really liked this one! Scent throw was good with one cube however the lasting power wash´t as long as I wanted.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Totally Scrumptious in my 24W hot plate warmer in my living room. This was a very interesting scent, a mix of chocolate and a citrus blend. I just have a slight problem with the scent strength in the majority of my YOCC tarts. It was detectable but not as strong as I would have liked but the staying power was ok.

-Pics. Petals & Scents Fresh Baked Orange Danish in a tealight warmer in my living room. This was totally awesome. I used only one of the 2 small bundt cakes and the throw and lasting power were amazing. I generally love the orange danish scent you find from many vendors but this was especially awesome!

Daily Wax Melts September 19th 2012

I overdid on the cinnamon today lol so I suffered a mild case of cinnamon intoxication =X
I melted the following scents:

-La Dolce Vita (an Etsy shop) Natural Soy Melts in Lavender Vanilla (2 cubes) in my 25W lightbulb warmer in the bedroom. La Dolce Vita really makes great tarts with good scent throw and nice lasting power. I have 5 clamshells from her and they are all great. This is a lavender vanilla similar to the Yankee version. 

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Zucchini Bread Noel in my 20W hot plate melter in the first floor. This smelled really good though the vanilla note didn´t really come through so it smelled pretty much like a creamy zucchini bread. Staying power was good and scent throw about medium I´d say.

-Front Porch Cake Batter Funnel Cake in a tealight warmer in my kitchen. I didn´t like this scent at all. It was a weird sorta greasy chocolate smell. It wasn´t strong though and I didn´t relight the tealight once it was out.

-Tiffany Candles Doughnut Shop in my 24W hot plate warmer in the living room. A strong cinnamon bakery scent. It was really strong and stayed very well. It was giving me a headache though and I was so stupid to pair it with:

-The Bathing Garden Frosted Vanilla Graham Crackers in a 25W lightbulb warmer in my living room (my living-dining area is really huge so I put this warmer in the other corner). A strong cinnamon bakery scent with excellent scent throw and tremendous staying power. It was too much for me though paired with Tiffany´s Doughnut Shop.

Loved this rainy cool fall day!

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream in the 20W warmer in the first floor. Thus didn't have much of a scent even though it was a pretty big tart.

-Pics, Petals & Scents Vanilla Bean Toasted Marshmallow in a tealight warmer in my kitchen. I poured this out after couple of hours as there was no scent at all. Disappointing.

-Scentsationals Autumn Leaves, 2 cubes in my 24W hot plate warmer in the living room. This was absolutely amazing! A super strong scent of dry leaves and fall. Wonderful!! Lasted all day long!

A clear cool autumn day! Wanted some sweet melts... And color-wise I clearly see a pattern lol

-Kristin's Kandles Peppermint Cheesecake in a 20W hot plate in the 1st floor. This is such a yummy scent and compared to the 1st time I melted it it's quite strong this time. I think it just needed some curing time! A creamy sweet peppermint but developed a coconut note over time.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Pink Sugar Marshmallows in a tealight warmer in my kitchen. A wonderful mellow sweet pink sugar marshmallow scent. Good throw but only medium staying power (6 hrs at most).

-Front Porch Ultimate Bakery on my 24W hot plate in the living room. A good bakery scent albeit with slightly too much spice in it. I don't quite get the hype around this scent... though it is good and has a long-lasting strong throw.

Ye Olde Candle Cubbard July sale haul

I placed my first YOCC order on July 15th and with a given TAT of 7-21 days expected to receive it by early August. I got it however on August 21st as the seller (Connie) was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of orders.
The sale was amazing. I spent over $75 so I was eligible to receive 6 full-sized packs of tarts and free shipping.

The tarts are extremely beautiful and almost all of them smell simply amazing so they were totally worth the wait! I am just thrilled with my new tarts and will order from YOCC again in the future!
Prices were like $5-6 per pack. There are also 3 sampler and 6 free packs in the lot.

Daily wax melts August 26th 2012

A very cool early autumn day today so went for fruity bakery and a crisp citrus linen scent.

-CFTKR Citrus Linen H2O in a tealight warmer in the 1st floor. This is an amazing citrus laundry type scent. I am not so much into laundry detergent scents but this smells great! Very strong throw and good longevity.

-Better Homes & Gardens Orange Buttercream Cupcake. 1 cube in a tealight warmer in the kitchen. A totally fabulous creamy rich orange bakery scent. Strong throw in my huge open kitchen with even only 1 cube!

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Pink Kaleidoscope in my 20W hot plate in my living room. Such a pretty tart, almost too pretty to melt. The description says it's a mix of cotton candy, orange, strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, caramel, gooey marshmallow and key lime pie. This is such an amazing and mouth-watering scent it's incredible. I just love it and could bathe in it lol. Throws well and fills up my large living room with all its goodness easily!

 

Daily wax melts August 24th 2012

The weather is finally turning a bit cooler and autumnal here so I melted something else than the super fresh scents of the past days.

-Long Cane Primitives Peppermint Patty in a tealight warmer in the 1st floor. A nice fresh sweet peppermint scent with a good throw.

-Ye Olde Candle Cubbard Pink Sugar Noel in a tealight warmer in the kitchen. This smelled really good and strong cold but was a bit disappointing hot. I think in a smaller closed room (my kitchen is huge and open) this would perform better. The scent itself is awesome, a blend if pink sugar and vanilla bean noel.

-FussAssMcGee Blueberry Meringue Torte in a 20W hot plate in my living room. I had to use 3 cubes in order to get a decent throw and it's a nice scent. I didn't really get a bakery note but rather a fresh fruity lemon/blueberry blend.
